Winter Of The White Bear is a lavishly illustrated picture book about Little Bear whose happy life in the Great Forest is suddenly changed by the arrival of an unwelcome visitor: White Bear. But it is much more than that.
It is all around, hidden in the small things that surround us, but we don’t always notice. During the social isolation of the 2020/2021 Covid-19 pandemic Dirt Lane translated Where Happiness Hides into 29 languages
Margrete, Dirt Lane Press’ publisher, had the idea. “Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could produce the double page spreads of the book on boards and have them in a garden and children read them in the garden setting.”
And so the Just One Bee Story Walk in Orange Botanical Gardens in regional NSW was conceived.
Dirt Lane Press acknowledges the Wiradjuri people, who are the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we are privileged to live and work. We acknowledge the riches this Land offers, and that we have gained these riches at the cost of others. With this in mind we pay our respects to the Elders both past and present of the Wiradjuri Nation, and extend that respect to other First Nations Australians, and to all First Nations people.
